Early and Personal Life
Virat Kohli was born on 5th November 1988 in New Delhi, India. Virat was born to Mr. Prem Kohli and Mrs. Saroj Kohli.
Virat started playing cricket at an early age and did not even complete his 12th standard.
His father, Prem Kohli, died at the age of 54 in December 2006 due to a stroke after being bedridden for around a month. When Virat’s father dies, he was 18 years old and was playing a Ranji Trophy Match (First Class Cricket League in India) for Delhi against Karnataka.
On that day, despite his father’s death, Virat didn’t leave the match and continued playing and was able to save Delhi from a follow on.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were in a relationship since 2014. In December 2017, the couple decided to get married in Italy.
Back then, when they were not engaged officially, people used to troll Anushka Sharma for every innings in which Virat couldn’t score runs.
Since childhood, Virat’s dream was to represent India in international cricket. After playing for various domestic teams, including Delhi and India red, Virat made his ODI (One Day International) debut on 18th August 2008 against Sri Lanka in Dambulla.
He then went on the represent India in T20I and Test in 2010 and 2011, respectively. He made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe and Test Debut against West Indies. Virat was also a part of the 2011 World Cup Team when India won the ODI World Cup after 28 years under the captaincy of M.S Dhoni.
When India won the Champions Trophy in 2013, Virat played a vital role in India’s victory in the tournament.
In 2014, on India’s Tour of Australia, Virat took over as the Captain of the Indian Test Cricket Team when M.S Dhoni decided to retire from Test Cricket. Since then, there’s no looking back for the Indian Captain.
Later in 2017, when M.S Dhoni decided to step down as skipper of the limited-overs formats, Virat Kohli was handed over the captaincy in all-3 formats.
Apart from Internation Cricket, Virat represents Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL (Indian Premier League). Virat is the only player in the history of IPL who has played for only one franchise.
Virat, being only 31 years of age, has registered 70 centuries in his name and is the only Captain along with Ricky Ponting, to have scored 25 centuries in both ODIs and Test Cricket as a captain.
There’s a high possibility that Virat might break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries.
